Breaking Political Stories and Commentary. "We're at the height of the Roman Empire for the Republican Party, but the tide slowly but surely goes out." --Republican US Senator Lindsey Graham, South Carolina
From the New York Times:
A classified National Intelligence Estimate prepared for President Bush in late July spells out a dark assessment of prospects for Iraq, government officials said Wednesday.

The estimate outlines three possibilities for Iraq through the end of 2005, with the worst case being developments that could lead to civil war, the officials said. The most favorable outcome described is an Iraq whose stability would remain tenuous in political, economic and security terms.

"There's a significant amount of pessimism," said one government official who has read the document, which runs about 50 pages.
Ironically, one of the slogans of the Bush campaign is "Results Matter".

Yes, but we in the States are more concerned with IBM Selectric type fonts. There's an article in this week's Newsweek or US News (can't remember) entitled "It's Worse than you Think" about Iraq.

U.S. Intelligence Warns of Possible Civil War in Iraq

Are we to trust the same intelligence that gave a President false information or do we forget that it was the intelligence agency that said there weapons of mass destruction in Iraq? Right now I am a little leery of trusting US Intelligence on anything. Next thing you know they might tell us is that the Moon has ETs on it and the are building Weapons of Mass Distortion (i.e. ET is about to have a Rave on the Moon).

Hot Damn! I sure am glad we "liberated the people" and are spending billions of dollars on Iraq. Hey, America, anyone want to march to the White House chanting, "Gimme, our hundreds of billions of dollars back"?
