Breaking Political Stories and Commentary. "We're at the height of the Roman Empire for the Republican Party, but the tide slowly but surely goes out." --Republican US Senator Lindsey Graham, South Carolina
From the Harvard Crimson:
“I even take the position that sexual orgies eliminate social tensions and ought to be encouraged,” Scalia said.
Yes, that's a real quote. From yesterday. This is not satire.

I was surprised to see it, although I admit there's nothing about sex orgy-dom that inherently contradicts Scalia's legal doctrine. Still, it's not what I would expect from him, and how often do you hear a Supreme Court Justice say something like that. It makes me like him a little more, even if I disagree with many of his decisions and think that Gore v. Bush will be remembered as one of the worst decisions (in terms of jurisprudence) of the last century, along with Roe v. Wade (a terrible legal decision that maintained an important right -- does the end justify the means?).

I think Justice Scalias Opinion opinion of encouraging sex orgies is new low in Judicial Activism. People who are appointed to Federal positions should not be promoting anti social behavior or trying to encourage social habits or activities that denegrate the values of moral codes presently a part of the legal and judicial laws of the land.
In my OPINION Justice Scalia puts his fitness to serve on the Bench into question as well as his place in public service to the people of this country. Thank you.
