Breaking Political Stories and Commentary. "We're at the height of the Roman Empire for the Republican Party, but the tide slowly but surely goes out." --Republican US Senator Lindsey Graham, South Carolina
Mrs. blogic and I just got back from a cavernous nightclub where the debate was projected onto an enormous screen. Air America Radio was broadcasting from there, so I got to see some C grade celebrities. In my life, that passes for a major happening.

That's a long way of saying that the crowd was biased, and it's really hard to get a good feel for a debate when everyone's really charged up and the whole place is intensely emtional. I'm also burning out on all these debates. Mrs. blogic and I get wound up, and it's hard to unwind afterward, which means late nights surfing Slashdot and the like.

Anyway, quick surfing after I got home seems to indicate it was a draw. Predictably, conservatives though Bush won, liberals thought Kerry won. My hunch is that Kerry did about as well as before, but Bush did much better than in the first go around.

As I've indicated before, though, a draw is a strategic win for Kerry. Bush is relatively unpopular for a president seeking re-election, and elections are usually determined by how people feel about the incumbent. Unless Bush can make this election about Kerry's flaws, Bush will lose. I don't think Bush accomplished that tonight.

What do you think?
