Breaking Political Stories and Commentary. "We're at the height of the Roman Empire for the Republican Party, but the tide slowly but surely goes out." --Republican US Senator Lindsey Graham, South Carolina
That's not good for Kerry. We'll see if that become a story.

I really don't like the word "lie" being thrown around like that.

Kerry was MISTAKEN. Unless you can read his mind, you can't say he lied.

As far as I had heard, the black caucus had been trying to set up a meeting with Bush.

Apparently they weren't being scheduled, so Bush saw them when they came over uninvited.

The question about whether Bush had met with the NAACP seemed to have however drifted into the ether...

Yeah i cant say he lied, but he was mistaken, and thats good enough for me to talk about it! Just how many ridiculous claims did he make against the president that werent true? I loved the one about the logging company but this was especially outrageous because he sat there and made a big deal out of it for like 30 seconds, just talking about how Bush is pro-slavery or some other nonsense. It was clearly a desperate attempt to get black voters over to his side.

Yeah, yeah...and Cheney "mis-spoke" when he said he had never met John Edwards before. It's typical debate rhetoric...
FYI: the gaffe was already aired and commented on by CNN and they did a pretty good job of pointing out factual flaws on both sides. It is true though, that Bush refused to meet with the NAACP which they really took as an insult because almost every President (since the organization's existence) has met with them at least once. There's a lot of political pandering happening on both sides...unfortunately, this is what the political process has deteriorated into.
